Our Women and Leadership programme is designed to equip women from across the business with the tools, skills, confidence and support network to progress into senior leadership roles underpinning our ambition to have 40% women in leadership positions, globally, by 2020. In our regular series, ‘Five minutes with’, we catch up with some of this year’s cohort to hear about their experiences on the programme.
Why did you apply for the programme?
I thought it would be an incredible opportunity to be a part of a programme that supports women to develop within the workplace and helps grow their careers. It is providing me with the chance to meet likeminded and inspiring women, and I felt that this programme would be a great springboard to a leadership role and help me in cultivating leadership qualities.
What do you hope to achieve from being on the programme?
I am hoping the course will provide me with the right tools and techniques to help me develop my own leadership style. This programme will be a good platform to learn more about myself, challenge myself to think about what I want to achieve, and what additional areas I will need to focus on to help grow into a well-rounded leader. I also intend to build and strengthen my network and find ways to support others as well.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learnt so far?
The programme has identified how significant and influential mindset and behaviours can be on success. I have been taking active interest in understanding my own behaviours and thoughts, working on ways to improve myself, but understand it’s important to silence the inner critic when required. This programme has motivated me to seek out new opportunities and challenge myself out of my comfort zone. Alongside that, it has been fantastic to build connections with supportive and empowering women throughout DAN.
