People's Postcode Lottery countdown to Christmas with ITV by celebrating good causes
Charities which have benefitted from funds raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery are to find themselves in the spotlight this festive season as part of an innovative Countdown to Christmas campaign.
Players have now raised more than £600 million for 8,500 charities and good causes in Britain and beyond. This December, the vital work of 24 of those charities will be showcased on ITV and STV.
From Tuesday 1 December, People’s Postcode Lottery will highlight a good cause every day until Christmas to demonstrate the ways in which players support local good causes. The campaign will launch on ITV and STV with a 10 second ‘proud-to-present’ spot and will be followed each day by a 60-second spot that will air during the ad break of ITV’s key prime-time soap opera Emmerdale, which is sponsored by People’s Postcode Lottery.
The campaign will also feature a competition which will see a host of unique ITV competition prizes on offer, all based around the network’s finest talent including Davina McCall, Phillip Schofield, Emma Willis and Gino D’Acampo. For example, winners will get to visit the Dancing on Ice studios and meet Phillip Schofield, or win a cooking class with chef Gino D’Acampo.
The campaign has been implemented in partnership with the Manchester office of dentsu’s media agency, Carat.
Julie Paterson, Head of Marketing at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “It’s been a year like no other and the work of our charity partners has been more important than ever. The entire Postcode Lottery team is incredibly proud that our players have now raised more than £600 million for such an incredible range of good causes. We want to end the year on a high by celebrating the contribution our players have made, and the vital work they support, by turning the spotlight on the charities themselves. Our partnership with ITV and Emmerdale will allow us to do exactly that in true People’s Postcode Lottery style.”
ITV Commercial’s Deputy Managing Director, Simon Daglish, said: “This partnership with People’s Postcode Lottery will shine a light on the numerous good causes across the UK who, in spite of extreme challenge and difficulty throughout 2020, continue to give back and devote their efforts to helping communities. We’re working alongside some of our biggest brands and best loved talent to deliver a series of fantastic festive prizes as we celebrate the work of People’s Postcode Lottery and the many charities they support.”
Peter Metcalfe, Managing Director, Carat Manchester said: “Supporting good causes lies at the heart of what the People’s Postcode Lottery is all about. Those causes have never been more important during such a challenging year for communities across the country. So, it’s a real privilege to work with ITV once again and the sponsorship of Emmerdale to highlight the way that players are contributing to society to millions of TV viewers and to do so in a way that encapsulates the build-up and magic of the festive season.”
People’s Postcode Lottery has sponsored ITV’s Emmerdale since April this year.
